Communiqué No. 4
The first day of the war saw intensive air action over both Fantasia and Westonia. Reports from points as far as Hemering and Guessling tell of spectacular air battles between Fantasian and Westonian fighters and fighter-bombers. No official communiqués were released from FAF HQ on yesterdays air battles. However, our Lelling correspondent reports that "the Westonians were blasted out of the sky".
The air attacks appear to be concentrated on fighter airfields. Thus the opponents are attempting to knock-out the air opposition and win the air battle. This is in the classic tradition of air warfare. Hitler failed to win the Battle of Britain and largely as a result of this, lost the war. Air Marshal Ventdurd, author of "The Atmosphere in Lower Fantasia", declared to our Petit Tenquin correspondent that "whoever wins the air battle in the next three days, wins the war".
Neither Fantasia nor Westonia has replied to Wessex’s ultimatum to stop the war. "If this becomes a three-way war tomorrow", observes the Le Canard of Lixing, "who knows what will happen?" And the good, grey Temps de St. Avold replies, "We don’t know".
Friday’s air reconnaissance sorties by Westonia were intensified. One important Fantasian air base has claimed many "kills" and several "damaged". These have not been confirmed as yet.
Today, General Champcloche, referring to his now famous words was heard saying, "They haven’t dared, yet". The Saaralbe Sector remains quiet.
