Andy Little made a visit to Grostenquin in July 2001.
There was a distinctive break between the villages of Guessling and Hemering in the 1950s and the 1960s. The two villages have now fused into one and the new map names the two villages on one sign.
While in the area, he stopped in Guessling and paid a visit to the Cafe du Centre - which is located near the church. The proprietor told Andy that her mother ran the cafe when the Canadians where there. She remembers the RCAF quite well as she was about 12 years of age when the station was operational. The proprietor advised that her mother died last year (2000) and that she herself is due to retire next year (2002) when she turns 60. Andy took some pictures inside and out and was told that the decor had not changed since those days. The proprietor allowed the taking of her photo and she was given the 2 Wing Grostenquin web site address. The other cafe down the road (Ma Hemerings in Hemering) is now a private house.
