F/O JA Davidson (441 Sqn) abandoned his F-86 when control problems occurred. The pilot suffered a sprained ankle as a result of his bail-out, the aircraft being a complete write off. Accident cause assessed as obscure.

Squadron social activities reached a peak in September. Flying was interrupted by aircraft being fitted to go to Prestwick towards the end of the month. 441 (F) Squadron deactivated.

Bristol freighter aircraft on final approach to runway 12 under radar contol crashed slightly more than 1 mile from runway killing eight (ie 4 crew members); 1 crewman and 2 passengers were injured.
